Revision today

I thought maybe, anything I wrote could be read. I was right and oh so wrong.
You have to be a master storyteller, or why bother, no one will "want" to read the endless babble I think of, unless it has the right pizzazz!

I've been revising a single short story now for over 3 months! Yeah, really!
1. The story should make enough sense for the everyday reader.
2. I need to create a catchy beginning, a compelling middle that moves the plot forward, and builds suspense and characters, then a satisfying conclusion.
3. OMG! I'm being attacked by unneeded words!!!

4. Purchase a good sharp machete and hack those "weedy words" to pieces!
5. Try not to lose speed, but its good to step back from a piece for a few days. Fresh outlooks are very important.
6. Study the market if you ever intend to sell. Find a suitable publisher. Not an easy task, but very rewarding.
7. Read, read, reread, survey, spell-check! You will find errors! (=
8. Studying your subject from every angle helps very much!
